Meet the Founder

Hello, I’m Kathy Jessie. I’m the founder and creator of AIH, established in 2026. I grew up in the south side of Chicago, Illinois, where the schools were segregated until 1964. When I was young, my mom homeschooled my siblings and I from birth to age six. My mom taught us the training and provided us with resources that gave us the advantage to be ahead. Being enrolled in school, I realized I knew more than what other students knew. I noticed early on the lack of parental involvement. It’s not solely on the teacher for a child’s academic development. Parents should be the greatest influence on the life of their children. Some struggles and challenges I faced in the public school system; I learned how to be an individual and strong. I never gave into peer pressure. My highest level of education in society’s point of view. I obtained my master’s in public administration and a minor in education. A degree doesn’t define you; I’m a continuous life learner no matter the age or the number of degrees you earned. I’m a retired educator. I was a tutor trainer; I created an effective program and ran the learning lab at a 4-year college institute. But my biggest joy was being an educator. In my tenure of teaching, I had one individual who failed, and that’s because they did not try to improve themselves. I started working with and teaching my own kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and became interested in the homeschool genre. My interests are in special problems, not just the education part but restoring the pride of the child’s race, giving them the positive entertainment of what they can watch and relate to, that represents them and their issues, and taking everyday problems and turning them into learning experiences. I would like to inform their parents that AIH is more than a classroom, it’s the world. What inspired me to advocate for homeschool, like I previously mentioned, is that I am a continuous life learner who doesn’t mind learning and sharing. I’m 73 years YOUNG and I have a passion for teaching. This is what I truly enjoy!

Greetings! Are you thriving or surviving? Well, the definition of thriving means growing, developing, or being very successful. And here at AIH, our mission is to help children overcome developmental issues and THRIVE while learning. I’m Ariel Jessie, the content manager at AIH. I edit and create content such as graphic designs, manage website maintenance, release newsletters, and produce videos. My job is to oversee the creation, planning, delegate correspondence, and the distribution of digital content across AIH. My mother homeschooled me when I was younger, and I loved it! I especially enjoyed all the snacks. She even made math fun by using fraction problems in her baking, with muffins or cookies. We also used play money in our math lessons. We visited the library a lot, and I loved story time, checking out books and CDs. School wasn’t just about sitting in one place all day; we learned all sorts of things. When I started public school in the 3rd grade, the Florida Comprehension Assestment Test (FCAT) was challenging for me. I graduated from Polk State College (PSC) with a bachelor's degree in public administration-Supervision Management. I have an extensive background in Human Resources, legal aid, and Sales & Marketing. I later began a long-time career in the insurance industry. I had the pleasure to work on numerous projects. Funny thing is, no matter my hired position, I was more than likely responsible to create job aids, publishing newsletters and PowerPoints, and assisting with onboarding for my employer. I have a precise attention to detail, and producing captivating content is what I love. As I embark on this role as the AIH content manager, I am excited to share my experience, knowledge, and learning new skills, and helping our newfound friends THRIVE. My goal is to help make this website user-friendly, post fun, enjoyable content, and make joining AIH a smooth process for all. So let me ask you again, are you thriving or surviving? Because here at AIH, we THRIVE within our community!

Audience

Learning Adventure 📚

What Adventures in Homeschool Will Show Families

The primary audience is parents and caregivers of young children who homeschool, are considering homeschooling, or want to supplement traditional education with practical, family-centered learning experiences.

Homeschooling during the primary years goes beyond the classroom. It gives parents the opportunity to guide, mold, and shape their children during important developmental years in the safety of their home and in the company of people who love and support them.

• Problems into teachable moments: Use everyday challenges to practice reasoning, decision-making, resilience, and problem-solving.

• Travel into history and geography: Turn family outings and trips into lessons about places, cultures, landmarks, maps, communities, and historical events.

• Social pressure into meaningful learning: Use experiences such as peer pressure or body shaming as age-appropriate opportunities to discuss science, health, self-respect, empathy, and confidence

• Daily life into skill-building: Help children practice communication, responsibility, leadership, creativity, observation, and independent thinking through ordinary routines.

• Give parents practical ideas they can use immediately in everyday life.

• Help families connect academic subjects with real-world experiences.

• Support character development alongside academic growth.

• Encourage curiosity, confidence, leadership, and independent thinking in children.

• Create a welcoming community where parents can exchange ideas and learn new ways to teach beyond the classroom.

Project Goals

Content Direction

Adventures in Homeschool can be developed through short videos, family activities, discussion prompts, lesson ideas, travel-based learning, and real-life scenarios. Content should be practical, encouraging, family-friendly, and easy to adapt for different ages and learning styles.
